Pedro Burmester aprendeu a estudar enquanto a mãe lhe lia Gorki e Dostoiévsky. Cresceu numa família de artistas: um dos irmãos é pintor, o outro arquiteto e a irmã fotógrafa. Terminou o curso superior de Piano com 20 valores, no Conservatório do Porto, tornou-se professor na Escola Superior de Música da mesma cidade e tem tocado em todo o mundo. Durante dez anos esteve ligado à fundação da Casa da Música. Depois voltou à vida de intérprete. É ferrenho do Futebol Clube do Porto, nasceu em 1963, é casado e tem quatro filhos, o João, a Júlia, o Ricardo e a Maria Inês.
Pedro Burmester learned to study while his mother read him Gorky and Dostoyevsky. He grew up in a family of artists: one of the brothers is a painter, the other an architect and his sister a photographer. He was a student of Helena Costa for 10 years and improved his studies in the United States with Sequeira Costa, Léon Fleisher and Dimitri Paperno. Pedro Burmester won the 2nd prize in the 1983 Vianna da Mota prize and received, in 1987, the special award from the jury of the Van Cliburn competition in the United States. Pedro Burmester performs internationally in recital, chamber music and with the world’s leading orchestras and conductors such as London Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of conductor Georg Solti. Pedro Burmester's name will always be related to Casa da Música in Porto, as he was involved from its construction to the definition of the artistic project. He's a teatcher of Piano (Bacharels and Masters) and Chamber Music at ESMAE-School of Music and Performing Arts. He is a strong fan of Futebol Clube do Porto, married and father of four, João, Júlia, Ricardo and Maria Inês.
